With the trial introduction of Metallic Body Photography, I wanted to share a few important details to help you prepare for your session and ensure the best possible experience.
What to Wear
Please arrive wearing flesh-toned, form-fitting attire. These garments will be covered in metallic pigment and may not return to their original condition after cleaning, so avoid using favorite pieces. A brief and crop top tend to work best.
Participants Under 18
For anyone under 18, a parent or guardian must be present during the session. They will also be required to assist with the painting of their performer.
Session Timing
The painting process typically takes around one hour, followed by approximately one hour of photography. Afterward, you’ll have time to shower before leaving. This is why 2.5 hours is allocated for each Metallic Photo Session.
Booking Timeframes
Most photo sessions can be booked with as little as three days’ notice. However, Metallic Sessions may sometimes require a longer lead time—usually due to pigment availability. If pigments need to be ordered, the standard three-day window may not be possible. Thank you for your understanding when this happens.
Hair Preparation
Please arrive with your hair tied back into a tight bun. Depending on the creative direction of the session, your hair may or may not be painted.
New Performers
If you’re a performer I haven’t worked with before, I’m happy to capture a few photos before painting begins. This helps me understand your movement and skill level. Once painted, it can be more challenging to reposition you, so these initial shots can really help achieve the best final images.
Safety & Comfort
Before fully painting, we’ll start with a small test area on your arm or leg to ensure there’s no reaction to the body paint. While I use professional-grade pigments, safety is always my top priority.
The mixing liquid used is alcohol-based and dries quickly, allowing us to begin shooting almost immediately. The sensation can feel a little unusual—your skin may feel tight, but it shouldn’t be painful. You may notice a mild tingling after washing the paint off; this is temporary and typically fades within about an hour.
Please note that because the liquid is alcohol-based, recent shaving or open cuts may experience mild irritation. Keep this in mind when preparing for your session.
I hope to see you soon for some Metallic Photo fun!
