Natural in Nature – A New Creative Project Begins

I’m thrilled to share that my new project, Natural in Nature, has officially—well, unofficially—kicked off! What started as a simple on-location photo shoot evolved into something much more meaningful after a great conversation with the dancer and her mum. We decided to try something different: photographing the dancer in a plain, flesh-toned leotard to highlight the natural connection between the human form and the surrounding environment.

The vision for Natural in Nature is to celebrate the beauty of dance and the dancer in striking outdoor landscapes. From the ethereal Rockingham Salt Flats (featured in these first photos) to places like John Forrest National Park, The Pinnacles, and even hidden gems we might discover on spontaneous drives—each shoot will focus equally on the dancer and the environment.

Originally, I intended this project to be for dancers aged 16 and older. However, after chatting with a few people, I’ve decided to open it up to younger dancers too—generally from age 12 and up. That said, if you’re under 18 and interested in participating, a parent or guardian must reach out on your behalf.

If this project speaks to you and you’d like to be involved, I’d love to hear from you! I’m really looking forward to future sessions and seeing how each dancer brings something unique to these natural landscapes.

Let’s see where the road (and the dance) takes us!
