Natural in Nature – Session Two with Charlee & Dani

Location: Perry’s Paddock
Weather: Rain-dodging adventure 🌧️
Mood: Earthy, candid, and beautifully raw

The second instalment of the Natural in Nature series brought me back into the elements—this time with Charlee and Dani, two incredibly grounded and expressive souls. Our location was Perry’s Paddock, a rustic gem nestled in natural bushland. With its historic old building and a meandering creek nearby, it was the perfect backdrop to reflect the raw, unfiltered beauty of this project.

Charlee & Dani: A Natural Connection

There’s something effortless about working with people who are completely in tune with both themselves and their surroundings. Charlee and Dani brought a quiet strength to the session—soft, grounded energy that echoed the mood of the landscape around us. Whether it was leaning against the time-worn walls of the old building or walking barefoot through wet grass near the creek, they brought vulnerability and presence to every frame.

Dodging the Rain – and Embracing It

As with most outdoor shoots, nature had its own ideas. Light showers swept through the paddock throughout the session, forcing us to pause, dash for cover, or make spontaneous shifts in the plan. But those in-between moments—muddy shoes, damp hair, laughter between takes—became just as much a part of the story as the composed shots. The rain softened the light and deepened the colours, giving everything a moody, filmic quality that I couldn’t have planned better if I tried.

The Space: Old Walls & Wild Water

The abandoned structure at Perry’s Paddock provided a beautifully decayed contrast to the softness of skin and fabric. Weathered textures and quiet decay played against the human presence in the frame—natural bodies in a semi-forgotten man-made space. Nearby, the creek was calm, winding through tall grasses like a hidden lifeline. The sounds of trickling water and rustling leaves framed our shoot with an immersive, grounding atmosphere.

Reflecting on Session Two

This session reminded me that imperfection and unpredictability are often where the magic lives. Natural in Nature isn’t about perfectly styled moments—it’s about the connection between people and the landscapes that surround them. Charlee and Dani brought something special to Perry’s Paddock, and I’m so grateful for the trust they showed in embracing the elements with me.

What’s Next?

I have a few more locations in mind now the weather is starting to warm up. Plans are under way for;

  • John Forrest National Park
  • The Pinnacles
  • Rockingham Salt Flats (Again)
  • Natural Bushland in the Perth outskirts.
  • Mundaring Weir
